MR. SCRYMGEOUR'S CASE.
To the Editor of the Evening Star. Sir, —Having been a subscriber to your paper s'nce its commencement, and not having troubled you with anything before, you will oblige me by inserting these few lines. I have read all the correspondence concerning the St. Andrew’s Church scandal, and 1 must say that I think the Church business has not been carried on in the best manner. My wife and myself agreed to have a look through the Bible, to find out, if possible, how they carried on such matters in olden times ; but we could not find anything concerning Presbyterianism or any other ism from Genesis to Malachi, so we thought we might as well look over the New Testament, There wa found no isms nor Synods, nor bad-tempered parsons, but we found the great preacher, Paul the Apostle; and what do you think he says ? He says—Let brotherly love continue ” ; but as he has not stated how long it is to continue, the isms have taken advantage of the omission. They preach “ Love your neighbor” by the hour; but, like the men of St. Paul’s time, they say and do not.—Yours, <fec., Bartemus. April 8, 1870.
