CHURCH OF ENGLAND SYNOD.
The Synod met yesterday afternoon at four o’clock. The Primate of New Zealand presided. Motions were agreed to .appointing the Registrar of the Diocese the custodian of papers and documents laid upon the table and relating to Church property ; asking an explanation from tire treasurer of the late Deanery Board of a deficit of L-I0 I Is.SI in the account handed by him to the treasurer of the Diocese; requesting from the churchwardens stat-ements of amounts proposed t; be paid to the various clergy, and to furnish a quarterly return of payments ; establishing a “ fund for supplementing the stipends of clergymen ; ” instructing the Standing Committee to take steps, through the lay representatives, to collect the ssessmeut agreed to bv the last Synod from those districts that had not paid their amounts ; appointing the Rev. Messrs Edwards and Stanford and Messrs Mason and R. B. Martin nominators ; and providing for the assessment of electoral districts to meet the expenses of the Synod.
