Waikouaiti, Feb. 17, 4.45 p.m. Three candidates were nominated today—Mr Mitchell,’ proposed by MiMain, seconded by Mr Ick ; Mr Thompson, proposed by Mr Durden, seconded by Mr Pearce ; Mr lire, proposed by Mr Drumm, seconded by Mr Latham. The show of hands was—Mitchell, 16; Thomson, 6 ; Ure, 1. A poll was demanded, and takes place on Monday, the 21st inst. The attendance at the nomination was good, considering that harvesting operations are in full vigor. Considerable excitement is manifested, and Mr Mitchell is the favorite. (from a correspondent.) Waikouaiti, Feb. 17, 4.15 p.m. The nomination of candidates for the representation of this district took place to-day. Messrs Mitchell, A. E. Ure, and A. Thompson were nominated. The show of hands was in favor of Mr Mitchell, but Mr Ure is the favorite.
