AUCKLAND, We have dates to the Ist instant. The enemy has been seen, six miles from Tapapa. M'Donnell’s scouts came up with him yesterday, killing one and taking another. It is ascertained that in the attack on M ‘Donnell’s camp, Te Kooti lost five killed. Mr Creighton is again editor of the Cross. The Waikato Militia have been dismissed to their homes. The Masons give a ball to the Squadron, The Band of Hope give a picnic to tho Teetotallers. There is to be a regatta tomorrow. The report that the Governor is going home is authoritatively contradicted by the Southern Cross. Crushings.—Una Company, 150 tons, 130 ozs; Inverness, 210 tons, 4900z5; Golden Crown, SO tons, 8970z5; Shooting Star, 2cwt, 23ozs ; Young American, 100 tons, 113oz; Point Russell, 160 tons, 120ozs ; Long Drive, 17610zs for the month—dividend of L2 declared. It is understood that it is intended to hold the next session of Parliament at Auckland. It is said that the Governor refuses to come to Wellington. The Defence Department is gradually shitting; one clerk has been resident in Auckland for some time, and another is ordered up, and he is to take part of the records and documents. Mr Fox is going to Auckland shortly. An office has been made for Major Heaphy, viz., Commissioner of Native Reserves, at a salary of LIOOO a year.
