MAYOR’S COURT.

This Day, (Before T. Birch, Esq., R.M.; ami A. Garrick, Esq., J. 8.) drunk and disorderly. F. Mallocb, for this offence, was fined LI. Two females, recent arrivals, were also charged with this offence, and dismissed with a caution. STEALING PROPERTY. Annie Fraser, a child about ten or eleven years of age, was brought up charged with stealing lace from the |house of Mrs Ellen Edwards. This was one of those cases of neglected children which have recently been brought prominently before the public. From the evidence, it appeared the mother of the child had given way to dissipated habits, and rather encouraged than checked her thieving propensities. She was sent to the Reformatory for four years. MINOR OFFENCES, J. Foster, for not keeping his premises clean, was fined 10s and costs. A. Sum-

mera, charged ■with a like offence, was fined 2s Cd ; and J. flastio, dismissed with a caution. ■ neighbors’ quarrels. Catherine King was charged by Julia Long with throwing water over her, and otherwise assaulting her ; and Julia Long was charged with using abusive and threatening language to Mr King and his wife. The Bench, after hearing both sides, recommended the disputants to make the quarrel up, as it was one which should never have beeu brought into Court. Both parties having declined this advice, the case was further, considered, and each fined 20s and costs.
