Tins Day. (Before T. Birch, Esq., R.M.; and A. Garrick, Esq., J.P.) DRUNK AND DISORDERLY. G. Phillips, J. Joyce, J. Buchanan, and A. Johnston, out on bail, not appearing, their bail was forfeited.—A. Hamilton was fined LI, or twenty-four hours’ imprisonment. FIGHTING IN THE STREET. J. Scott and J. Davis, for this offence, were each fined L2, or twenty-four hours’ imprisonment. TRESPASSING ON PRIVATE FROPBRTY. G. Mendelson was charged with being illegally on the premises of Mrs Cargill, sen., Hillside. —The gardener stated that the prisoner had on previous occasions been warned not to trespass on the premises, but he persisted in coming, and in this instance he was found sleeping in the cow-house. He was sentenced to forty-eight hours’ imprisonment. STEALING BOOKS. G. Gately and 0. Miller, boys about twelve or fourteen years of age, wnre charged with stealing a number of books from St Paul’s Sunday School, Stafford street. From the evidence taken, it appeared that the two boys in question had been hawking about a number of hymn books on Saturday last. It was found that the school-room had been entered and the book closet forced, and a larger number of books stolen than has yet been recovered. Gately, who was represented by the police as an incorrigible young rascal, was ordered to be sent to th Reformatory for three years. Miller, who had only lately como to town, and had evidently been led into mischief by the other boy, was sent to the Reformatory until such time as his mother was ready to go to the country. MINOR OFFENCES, D. Cameron, for neglecting to keep his premises clean, was fined os and costs. VV. Dalzel, for neglecting to keep a light burning on the hoarding round building material in Rattray street, was fined 5s and costs. THROWING STONES. J. Griffen and C. Griudly were charged with throwing stones at the house of a Mrs Bams. Griffen was fined 10s and costs, and Griudly was dismissed, there being no evidence to identify him with the offence.
