Advertisements received too late for Classification. Bendigo quartz mills company, REGISTERED. [To be registered under “The Mining Companies Limited Liability Act, 1865.”] CAPITAL, £6,500, in 1,300 Shares of £5 each. directors: William Gregg, Esq., Princes street, John Hughes, Esq., M.P.C. F. H. Irwin, Esq., Princes staeet, Edward M‘Glashan, Esq., Princes street. • Charles S. Reeves, Esq., Maclagganstreet. bankers; The Bank of Otago, Limited. , solicitors : Messrs Kenyon and Maddock, Princes street. BROKER - F. H. Evans, Princes street. The urgent need that exists at the Bendigo Gully Reefs for a Public Battery for Quartz Crushing has led to the formation of this Company. At this time there are about fifty claims in a more or less advanced stage of development, of which number about a dozen have now quantities of stone, known to bo auriferous, which they are anxious to have tested ; the rest are being vigorously pushed forward ; and long ere the Public Battery is erected there is no doubt many additional claims will be prepared to avail themselves of its services. In the meantime, sixteen claims (by their representatives) have signified their intention to send their stone to this Company’s Battery as soon as crushing can be proceeded with. The lines of Reef are five in number, viz. : —The “Bendigo,” the “Aurora,” the “Colclough’s,” the “Alta,” and lastly, “ Stewart Richmond’s” ; and in every line, without exception, auriferous stone is laid open. It is proposed to limit the capital, in the first instance, to L 6,500, which will be amply sufficient to erect a Battery of fifteen head of stamps ; to acquire valuable water-rights, for the purpose of bringing water, to bear as a motive power on the said Battery; and to construct a water-race, carrying sufficient water to drive the'above. In order that any doubt or difficulty as to the cost may be at once settled, a responsible party has agreed to execute the whole of the works necessary for the sum of L 6,000, an offer which the Directors, have conditionally accepted. It Will be observed that this Company offers a sound and legitimate means for the investment of capital. There is nothing whatever speculative in its character. It merely makes a specific charge per ton for the stone crushed, and its revenue; may be calculated on the following basis : Fifteen head of stamps will crush per week about 180 tons—say 150 tons, at a charge of £1 per ton £l5O per week. EXPENSES. Labor, 4 men—£6, £5, £4, £4........ £l9 Quicksilver.. 2 Shoes and repairs... 2 Contingencies 2 Profit ... £125 per -week. Or £6,500 per annum. The water rights offered to this Company are, owing to the scarcity of water at the Reefs, of an especially valuable character. They extend as far back as Grumbling Gully, taking in numerous side streams, and terminating in the very heart of ■ tho- Reefs at Bendigo Gully, It is intended to bring in the needful quantity of water to drive the Battery ef fifteen heads, from the section of the water-race nearest the point of delivery ; hereafter, when it becomes expedient to extend the works of the Company by additional stampers, a farther extension back of the Race will also be needful; aud it is indisputable, that if this Company Is prepared hereafter to subscribe the requisite funds to bring in the full supply of twelve heads a very large revenue must be obtained, as a further advantage which this Company’s water possesses is that it will, owing to its low elevation, flow all the year, round ; whereas the existing supply of water in the district, being mostly brought in at a high elevation, furnishes no supply for about .three months in the year. A considerable mimberof the Shares being already applied for, early ; application is requested for the remainder. All applications to be made in the annexed form, addressed to the Directors, and left at the office of the Broker, Fi H; Evans, Pripcefi street, Dqnedin, ' FORM OF APPLICATION FOR SHARES.
