MAYOR’S COURT.
This Day. (Before T. Birch, Esq., R.M., and W. H. Reynolds, Esquire, J.P.) DRUNK AND DISORDERLY, G, M‘Donald and T. Hodges for this offence were each fined 5s or 24 hours’ imprisonment; Katherine Grey and M. O’Briaa for a similar offence were dismissed, it being their first appearance ; J. M'Leiinau out on bail, not appearing, his bail money was forfeited. DESERTION OF SEAMEN, George Battie and William Paterson, seamen on board the schooner Julia, were charged with having absented themselves from the vessel without leave, the term of service for which they were articled not having expired. The captain of the vessel produced the ship’s articles ; he said all he wanted was that the men should be in safe keeping until the ship was ready for sea, which ho thought would be about Thursday next. The Bench sentenced them to 7 day’s imprisonment. KEEPING A PI3KEPUTARLE HOUSE. John Wilks and Mary Sutton were charged with keeping a house in a lane off Walker street, which was the resort of thieves and disreputable females, Sentenced to three months’ imprisonment. Mr Ward appeared for the defendants.
