Malt is a trifle firmer. Candles are dull, at 9|d to 10,Jd. The wool sales have been spirited. Greasy sold at 5d to 9 Ad ; scoured at Is lid to Is fid; fleece, lOd to Is 7d. Flax ranges at LIS to L 32, according to quality. Sydney. New insolvents : Mr Hill, Grafton Wharf; Mr Lackerstein ; Messrs Pealy, drapers. Mr Salamons has been appointed SolicitorGeneral, A contract has been accepted for the construction of a line of telegraph from Cardwell (Queensland) to the Gulf of Carpentaria. Messrs Lemon and Cape, brokers, have sold L 79,009 worth of New Zealand Consolidated Loan at par. The same firm also offer L 150,000 in New Zealand Treasury bills, payable in November, 1874, at 4cl per day interest. Colonel Blaekwall, Governor of Queensland, is on a visit to Sydney. Sugars have declined. The Jane Maria’s cargo was withdrawn at auction. The wool sales are active. Adelaide. The threatened want of confidence motion has been postponed, owing to the indisposition of the Attorney-General. Smne of the reports from the agricultural districts give a poor account of the crops. The ears of wheat are looking well, but contain few grains. The Flying Cloud lias arrived with a cargo of sugar. Dr Milner has been appointed Government Resident at Port Darwin. Breadstuff's are dull. Wheat is at 4s to 4s Id. Hobart Towx, Dr Smart has been elected Mayor. The Derwent and Tamar Insurance Company has declared a dividend of 30s per shave. Arrived.—Bella Mary, from Auckland; Free Trader and Glencoe from Dunedin.
