MEETING OF THE PROVINCIAL COUNCIL.
The following circular has been sent to each member of the Provincial Council, explanatory of tile objects for which the Council is convened : “ Superintendent’s office, “Dunedin, 17th Nov., 1969. “Si-,—l am directed by his Honor the Superintendent to transmit herewith, proclamation convening a session of the Provincial Council of Otago, to commence upon Wednesday, the Bth day of December, 1869, whin it is hoped you will find it convenient to attend. “ ’1 he Superintendent directs me to inform you that the proposed session has been convened specially in consequence of a difference of opinion brtwixt his responsible advisers and himself as to the most practical method of seeming the immediate construction of the Southern Trunk Railway ; and also in consequence of their desire that no action should he taken towards the pr claipatipn of new Hundreds (in terms of the Otago Hundreds Regulations Act, 1569), until the same shall have been considered by the Provincial Council. “ I am further to state that, with the exceqtion of tho two subjects in question, and perhaps that of imm gration and re-union with Southland, it is not intended on the part of the Government to introduce any question of general importance until the regular meetipg of the Council at the termination of the financial year; so that it is hoped the session now convened may be a short ono —1 have, &,c , dJoh-n Logan, “Secretary to .Superintendent.” “ Proclamation by his Honor, James Mac? Andrew, Esq., Superintendent of the Province of Otago ; “ In pursuance "of the power and authority vested in rpe in that behalf, 1 do hereby fix and proclaim that the Twenty, sixth Session of the Provincial Council of the Province of Otago shall be holden within the Provincial Council Hall, Dunedin, in the said 1 rovince, and shall commence upon Wednesday, the eighth day of December next, at twelve o'clock noon ; and the members of the said Council are hereby warned to give their attendance at BUQh time and place accordingly. “Given under my hand, and issued under the Public Seal of the said Province, this sixteenth day of November, one thousand eight hundred and sixty-nine.
