WASTE LAND BOARD.

A meeting of the Waste Land Board was held at the Government Offices to-day, when the following business was transacted : On the application of John Campbell to purchase or lease twenty acres of land, to work limestone at the Nuggets, it was pesolved that a lease of five acres be granted for 21 years, at L 5 per annum rental. To bo surveyed at the applicant’s expense. Mr Colin Allan’s application for the appointment of James Cosgrove as ranger for the Clarendon Bush, was declined, On the question whether the Water of Lftith Reserve should be surveyed and sold, it was ordered to be surveyed. Mr D. H. Miller’s application, on behalf of Gideon Smith and George Vickory, for a lease of five acres of land adjoining Low’s lignite area to work for coal, was sanctioned on the usual terms, the applicant to famish the Board with a survey by an authorised surveyor. Mr Denelly’s application for a lease, nndcr the 53rd Clause of the Waste Lands Act, of section 48, block 4, Dunedin and E. Taieri, for the purpose of cultivating Riga flax, was declined.

The application of Mr Doughty, oh behalf of John Hardy, for a lease of block 61, Town of Hampden, as a mill site, was declined. Mr Ramsay's application, on behalf of Messrs Lees and Borthwick, for a license over 360 acres at Gatlin’s River, to erect a saw-mill, was declined. The land was ordered to be sold as land of special value according to the decision of last week.
