The Westland Bushranger.—According to our latest files, the escaped prisoner, German Charley, has not yet been captured. The last that was seen of him was at one o’clock on Saturday last, when a party consisting of ."eigeanc Maloney and Warder Ferguson, from the gaol, and Sergeant O’Donnell from the police force, came upon him at a place to the left of the Hau-hau station. The hush is so dense in that locality that although Maloney was but very little in advance of the other two, he was the only one that sighted the fugitive, Maloney fired four shots at German Charley, who fell, or tripped down, but he immediately recovered and was away into the dense hush, running towards the Hau-hau. Afterwards O’Donnell and Maloney tracked him by his footprints to the mouth of the Two-mile, within a quarter of a mile of the beach, but there the ground became hard, and it was the . too dark to enable the trackers to discover any further traces of their man.
