THE PROSECUTION OF MR. HENNINGHAM.
To the Editor of the Evening Star. Sir, —In your paper of yesterday evening you spoke of this prosecution as the “ pending prosecution You are under a mistake. The prosecution lately commenced by Mr Maclean is at an end, and if that gentleman or Mr Driver think proper to begin again, their proceedings will be fresh proceedings, not a continuation of the old proceedings. Whether such fresh proceedings can be taken is a question, but there can be no question that Mr Henningham stands discharged from the late proceedings, which have terminated. Your insertion of this will oblige—Yours truly, Georgk Elliott Barton’. Young’s Buildings, 10th Sept. 1889.
