ARRIVAL OF THE OMEO FROM MELBOURNE. BY ELECTRIC TELEGRAPH. (from our own correspondent.) [A portion of the following was published by us to-day as an “ Extra”.] Napier, Monday. Mr Dorrington, a watchmaker at Parnell, has been committed for trial for selling arras and ammunition to a native named Hapimana. Over 100 miners’ rights have been taken out for Coromandel since the rush to that place. The Waikato is as yet quiet. Orders have been received from head-quarters for the 18th Regiment to embark onboard the Wellington on the 16th inst. The news from the Waikato states that the intentions of the King are ambigous. Fabulous reports of the richness of the Thames diggings have been received. Bluff, Monday. The M.A. and N.Z. Co.’s steamship Omeo, G. Calder, commander, arrived at the Bluff at 7 a.m. on the IGth. Captain Calder reports that the Omeo left Hobson’s Bay at 2.30 p.m, on the 10th inst., and cleared Port Phillip heads at 5,39 p.m. the same day. Passed Swan Island at 5.30 p.m. on the following day. From thence expeperienced light northerly and variable winds, and fine weather. Sighted Preservation Inlet at 5.30 p.m. on the 15th, and arrived as above. American news, via Sydney, states that cholera is raging in Cuba. The insurrection has been repressed. Small pox has broken out at Panama. Sydney. It is reported that a diamond weighing half a pound has been found at Armidale. The Australian Steam Navigation Company have paid a dividend of ten per cent. M‘Kinlay, who is a fraudulent insolvent, has been proved insane. A woman named Eliza Paine, supposed to be the wife of the captain of the Dandenong, has committed suicide. Rockhampton, Mr Rankin, the Commissioner of Crown Lands, fired three shots at Mr Rae, the stock agent. One ball struck Mr Rae in the shoulder. Jealousy is supposed to have been the motive. Rae is not expected to recover. A new copper mine has been found eighty miles from town. Adelaide. Governor Weld is a guest at Government House. A grand reception has taken place in consequence. The wheat market is firm.
