Correspondence.
[SVe are not responsible for the opinions expressed by our correspondents.] ANOTHER GENTLE REMINDER FOR THE CITY CORPORATION. To the Editor of the Erenhiq Star. Sir, — I am again compelled to ask through your journal for permission to make a few remarks about the almost impassable state of Cumberland street, between St. Andrew and Stuart streets. With the snow on the ground, the street was yesterday in a very dangerous condition, large boulders being laid down, with no gravel or any other protection for limb. The Corporation have been written to frequently ou this subject, and their attention has been called to the state of the street sov.ral times through the press, but no action has yet been taken to remedy the evil. Their road inspector, Mr Barnes has on more than one occasion pro mised the writer to have the street repaired, but his promises, like those of some of the Councillors, are very easily and soon forgotten. Would, not, Mr Editor, an action be sustainable against the Corporation should any person fall in the street in its present state, and break an arm or leg? I think before new gas works are thought of, some little expenditure on improvements of this kind, would be far more acceptable to the general public or at any rate to —Yours, &c., Axdhkw Lockik. Cumberland str.et, Aug. 13th, 1869.
