General Chute detains the 18th Regiment, and cancels all orders about concentrating them at Auckland.

(from our own correspondent.) Wellington, Tuesday.

Tlic following telegram from Dr Featherston was read to the House this afternoon: —“Melbourne, Aug. 4, 4 p.m. General Chute will detain the 18th Regiment pending further reference to the Home Government. He cancels all instructions about concentrating them at Auckland ; and also cancels all tenders for their transport. If they should have embarked he will order them back on arrival at Mcll>ourne.”
