In the Spanish Cortes, a proposal for the establishment of a republic has been discussed, and rejected by a large majority. They have voted the monarchical clauses of the »cav Constitution. Another proposal—that the new soA’ereign should be a born Spaniard, and ele< ted by a plebiscitura— Avas also negatived. The Ministerial position remains unchanged.
