We regret to learn that very slight hopes are how entertained of the p.s. Bruce being successfully launched from her present position on the North Beach. She is not so seriously damaged, but since she slipped off the ways she lias been lying with her decks exposed to the action of the sea, so that should a heavy surf come home, of which there was every appearance last night, she will undoubtedly break up. The owner and contractor, with a large body of workmen, are still making every exertion to ■save her, and we only hope they may be successful. —Grey River Anjus, Bth inst. The s.s Kennedy, went ashore on the North Spit, at Hokitika, on the 11th inst. She is safe, but will have to be launched.
