SIR, Having in view the approaching election for the office of Mayor of the City of I uinedin, wo, the undersigned, ratepayers, desire to express our approb >tiou of your public conduct in the Municipal Council for the past two years. We have observed the active interest which you have at all times taken in matters affecting the welfare of the citizens, and the independent manner in wh ch you have always acted in the discharge of your duties ; we therefore are of opinion that your past conduct justifies us in believing that you will fill the office of Mayor with satisfaction to the Ratepayers, and with honor to yourself. We therefore request that you will allow yours df to be nominated for that office in the ensuing election ; and in the event of your acceding to this request, wo pledge ourselves to use our best endeavors to secure your return.
