SEVENTEENTH REPORT OK THK DIRECTORS OF THK JjJ'EW ZEALAND INSURANCE COMPANY, Fok the Half-year endino May 31, 1869. At the General Meeting of Proprietors, held pursuant to the 36th Clause of the Articles of Association, on the 16th June, 1869, at the Company’s < dfices, Queen street, Auckland, the following Report was presented:— Report. The Directors now present to the Shareholders the Accounts and Balance Sheet of the Company for the Half-year ending the 31st May, 1860, duly verified by the Auditors. From the continued losses which have attended insurance operations generally during the past six months, the Directors are gratified in being able to present so satisfactory a report. '1 he receipts, including the balance brought forward from last ha f-year, amount to J-61, :=*29 17s 5d ; the payments for claims, and the sums appropriated for losses, expenses, &c, have been 1,52,607.0s lid, leaving a balance of L 9,322 16s Gd, from which your Directors recommend the payment of a Dividend at the rate of ten per cent, per annum, carrying tie sum of LG, 571 16s 6d forward to the account of profit and loss.
