BY ELECTRIC TELEGRAPH.

(from our own correspondent.)

Wellington, Saturday evening.

A private telegram, received here to-day, confirms the report that Paora Hopi lost six men and fifteen women, who were killed by Te Kooti.

A letter received from Hemari Te Palmatua, of the Arawas at Taupo, states that the Waikatos are going to rise. Hohepa and twenty men have reconnoitred Te Kooti’s position at Tauranga. They were fired at, and retired to Hohepa’s pa. They are anxious for help.
