“ Evening- Star” Office, 4.30- pm. The tatal amount of revenue collected at tha Customs to-da,y was £555 11a 3d. The following are the amounts obtained at auction, to-day for the Govemxnent Tolls for the eleven months ending 31st. December next. We are unable to give purchasers’ names—the auctioneers in-. forming our applicant that, they could not furnish that information until they, had consulted the purchasers. We can only ascribe this reluctance to furnish the details which the the public is entitled to , and bound to learn when the next Gazette appears, to an ignorance, on the part of the agents for the Government, of the duties which appertain to the novel position they have been placed in as the mediums for realizing the public estate Lot 1, Waikari Hoad Toll-gate, L.405 j Lot 2, Water of Leith do, L. 1,385 ; Lot 3, Saddle Hill do, L. 1,585 ; Lot 4, Hill Side do, L 2,505 ; Lot 5, Clutha and Tuapeka Junction do, L.500 ; Lot 6, Waihola. Gorge do, L.500; Lot 7, Blueskin and Waikouaiti do, L 1,250 ; Lot 8, Anderson’s Bay do, L. 325 ; Lot 9, East Taieii Bridge do, L.580 ; Lot 10, West Taieri Bridge do, L.600. Total, L. 9,635. Mr James Milner, •as agent for the Provincial Government, sol i to-day by auction the lease of the whole of the Dunedin Jetties for the eleven months ending 31st December next, to Mr Chas. Mann for L 2630. The same purchaser bought the Jetty street Weighbridge for the same period for L 135, and the Stuart street Weighbridge was knocked down to Mr Peter Mitchell for a like term for L 25-
