VOLUNTEERS ’ COLUMN.
The tie between Corporal Taylor (Scottish) and Private W. F. Stevens for the Second Prize was fired off this morning at the 500 yards range, and won by the former. The tie between P. O. Hardy (Naval Brigade) and Private White (Scottish) was decided at the same range, and won by the former. The highest twenty scorers in the ,2nd District fired this morning at the Kaikorai Butts at half-past five o’clock, to determine upon the best marksman to proceed to Wellington to compete for the General Government prizes. The following are the only scores we could obtain, but we believe that the remainder of them were all below 13 : Corporal Taylor (Scottish) 49 P.O.
