RESIDENT MAGISTRATE'S COURT.

THIS DAY. (Before A. C. Strode, Esq., R.M., and His Worship the Mayor.) IXRUNKENNESS. John Thomson and Edward Callaghan, each charged with this offence, were lined 20s, with the usual alternative. Edward Callaghan was also charged with tearing the constable’s uniform and fined 10s and costs. LUNACY. Adam Aitken was charged with being of unsound mind, and dangerous to be at large. The defendant was remanded for medical examination. CIVIL CASES. John Lazar (Town Clerk) v. Wm. Eldie, claim of 15s for rates. Judgment for the amount and costs. Same v. John Currie, claim of £7 4s 6d for rates. Judgment for amount and costs. Same v. William Boss (trading as Ross and Son). Claim of L 3 15s for rates. The defendant proved that he was not connected in any way with the firm sued. Plaintiff non-suited. Henry J. Reed vA. C. Rees. Claim of L 3 11s 6d for wages, &c. Judgment for amount and costs. Edward Shields v Berrill and Bond. Claim of Lll 16s 9d for lighterage. By consent this case was adjourned till Friday. In the cases of John Lazar v Sarah Hamilton, claim of L 5 for rates, and same v David Henderson, claim ox L2 12s, amount of a promissory note, judgment by default was given for amount and costs. The case of Cohen Brothers v A. C. Rees, claim of L2O, was dismissed, there being no appearance of either party.
