VOLUNTEERS' COLUMN.
The Otago Rifle Association matches commenced this morning at the Kaikori. The Mayor’s Cap was the first prize shot for, and was won by Private W. F. Stevens, of the Naval Brigade ; the remaining prizes were won respectively by Lient. M‘Farland, Corporal Broad, Gunner Fisher, and Gunner Carter, all of the Artillery Regiment. The scores were as follow : 200 yd. 500 yd. 600 yd. Tot. Priv. W. F. Steve ns,
The Cup last year was won by Lieut. M ‘Farlanc who now stands second, the condition on whic it was given being that the Cup should be wo twice in succession before it could be ,pei xnanently retained.
