" New Zealand Stud Book."—We have received a circular from the compiler and publisher of this work, from which we extract the following:—"The publication of the second volume of the "New Zealand Stud Book" having been unavoidably delayed, I am now; desirous of including in it, by way of an appendix, the foals of the present season, and any other suitable information I may be furnished with before the 30th of December inst. As the printing is far advanced, the volume will be ready for" publication on the Ist of February, 1566. The forthcoming volume, in addition to the pedigrees of all the-thoroughbred horses in the colony, will contain tables of pedigrees giving the breeding of most of the principal horses and mares in New Zealand and th.e Australian colonies, and particularise all the chief strains of blood in England back -to -the -earliest progenitors of the turf. By -the -aid of these tables, a reference to the General Stud Book, to trace back the blood of -any particular horse, may be dispensed with. The volume will likewise contain a tr-eatise on breeding, compiled from the latest and best authorities, and other information valuable to persons interested in the welfare of thoroughbred horses."
