RESIDENT MAGISTRATE’S COURT
THIS HAY. (Before the Hon. A. C. Strode, R.M.) DRUNKENNESS. Jas Murdoch, Eliza Smith, and Catherine Doolan were charged with this offence, and fined 20s or the usual altenative. BEGGING. Allan M'Kay, charged with soliciting alms in Manse street yesterday, was, upon promising not to offend in a like manner again, discharged with a caution. CIVIL CASES. In the case of Dyer v. Roskruge, Mr M‘Kay (from the offices of Howarth, Barton, and Howarth) applied for his Worship to withhold his decision until the cause was argued before the judges in Banco. Mr Wilson, for the plaintiff, replied. After a short argument, the application was withdrawn, and his Worship gave a verdict for the amount claimed, and costs. There were a few other cases heard, but were of a trivial nature.
