At the monthly meeting of the Council of the Otago Rifle Association held on Saturday evenffig, the programme of matches to commence on. the 6th January next was adopted. It includes eight matches : —two, open to all comers ; three, to members only, and a consolation match. The prizes are as follows : silver cup, value £ls, presented by the proprietors of the Daily Times ; one of the same value, the gift of W. Mason, Esq., and another, value £lO, given by the proprietor of the Evening Star. A medal, value £lO, is offered by the Association, and the money prizes amount to over £IOO. A SubCommittee was appointed to carry out the arrangements of the forthcoming meeting. The Christchurch Artillery are unable to take an active part in the forthcoming encampment in Canterbury, owing to their gun being minus the “vent piece,” and for want of arms and accoutrements.

The Secretary of the Waikari Rangers has furnished us with the scoring of a match fired at the butts of the corps on Saturday last between the “Benedicts ” and Bachelors of the company. It will be observed that the former (no doubt all steady men) were the victors, with points to spare : MARRIED MEMBERS. 150 200 230 300 Yds. Yds. Yds. Yds.
