Christchurch, 2-30 p.m

By the Phoebe from the North, intelligence has been received of some skirmishes at Taranaki, in which Capt. Mace, (Taranaki Militia), and Colonel Colville and two men have been seriously wounded, and two men killed. Five Maoris are reported killed. An accident [nature uncommunicated— Ed.]] has occurred at Wellington. Captain Sleigh, Waikato Militia, supposed to be drowned. There has been a great' flood at Kaipoi, Canterbury, and serious damage caused. Mr Whitaker has been elected Superintendent of Auckland.
