THE FOOD CONFERENCE

OTTAWA, October 27.

At a plenary, session, of the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organisation, Sir John Boyd. O.rr was unanimously elected director-general till December 31, 1947. The .standing executive committee, unanimously elected, consists of New Zealand, Haiti, Canada, Britain, and Mexico for a one-year term, India,, Norway, Irak, France, and Poland for two years, and Brazil, China, America, South Africa, and Belgium for three years. ••

The chairman of the conference, Mr. Pearson, announced Russia's decision not to become a full member at present. The Canadian Press says a strong Soviet delegation attended throughout and played an important part in committee discussions, but took no definite status.
