GISBORNE, October 28A large meeting of returned servicemen graded as suitable for farm management decided to send a deputation to Wellington to present a petition to Cabinet on the following lines. To secure adjustment of the Gisborne branch of the State Advances Corporation so the men can deal with it direct, to investigate properties available for settlement; and to recommend acquisition where negotiations are not yet started, and to persuade tho Government to relax the policy of full improvement of land before allocating sections. s It was stated that taxation on the proceeds of land and stock sales for soldier settlement was killing the desire of farmers to help the settlement policy.
