His Excellency the Governor-General received the Right Honourable the Prime Minister this afternoon.

This evening his Excellency, accompanied by her Excellency Lady Newall. opened the 57th Annual Exhibition of the New Zealand Academy of Fine Arts.

Subsequently, their Excellencies were present at the Plunket Ball at the Town Hall. Captain the Hon. D. E. A. Winn was in attendance.

His Excellency the GovernorGeneral, attended by Captain the Hon. D. E. A. Winn, left Wellington this mOrning for Gore. His Excellency will return to Wellington on Tuesday.

Mr. H. E. Evans, Solicitor-General, will leave Auckland by air for London towards the end of next month to take part in the proceedings on the taking of evidence in London in the compensation claim of Pacific Steel, Ltd., against the Crown in relation to the Onekaka mining rights. He will be accompanied by Mr. R. V. Jacobs, of the Iron and Steel Department.
