FUTURE OF COMMANDOS
Rec. 9 a.m. LONDON, October 26. The commando organisation, which latterly has consisted of equal numbers of Royal Marines and British Army personnel, is now being disbanded. The commandos in future will be drawn entirely from the Royal Marines.
The War Secretary, Mr. Lawson, replying to a question in the House of Commons, said that man-power commitments rendered impracticable the retention of specialised- units like the commandos, but that their technique would be incorporated in future army training. The Royal Marines were fully qualified by their long tradition and history to carry on the special role which the commandos had performed. _____
