General Mac Arthur is awaiting word from Washington regarding the other Allied troops to occupy Japan and also the date of their arrival. When acquainted with the report that the British are due to arrive in Tokio on January 1, Major-General * Richard Marshall, Deputy Chief of Staff to General Mac Arthur, said: "That is news to me. The joint occupation problem is still in the discussion stage among the Allied representatives."
