AMERICAN CONGRESSMEN'S VIEWS
WASHINGTON, October 25,
Four Congressmen have issued a statement demanding that the United States take immediate action on the issue of free immigration to Palestine, asserting: "The United States cannot afford to be a party to brutal unilateral breaches of faith and violation of solemn obligations." Senators Charles Tob'ey and Francis Myers and Representatives Andrew Somers and Bertrand Gearhart also announced that they were members of an unofficial delegation which was going to London soori to present its views to, Mr. Attlee. They are the sponsors of a joint resolution before Congress urging immediate reopening of Palestine immigration and the ultimate establishment of Palestine as a "free and independent democratic State."
LONDON, October 24.
It is learnt from a Jewish source that 170 illegal Jewish immigrants landed safely on the Palestine coast on Monday, says the Associated Press correspondent in Jerusalem. While rowing boats carried out the disembarkation from a schooner which brought the ' immigrants from Italy, armed members of the Jewish selfdefence organisation (Haganah) stood on guard.
