RIOTING IN SOFIA
Rec. 9 a.m
LONDON, October 26,
Riots broke out in Sofia last night. Adherents of the Opposition and the Fatherland Front began shouting each other down, and the shouts gave place to fighting. The clash developed from a memorial service attended by Opposition followers. The secretary of the United Social Democratic Party, Loulchev, arrived and started shouting, "Down with the Opposition.' The Opposition began shouting its slogans, and the crowd dissolved into a milling, howling mass. The fighting became "more serious when the Opposition unsuccessfully attempted to tear down a Fatherland Front banner.
