GIFT OF £10,000

HERITAGE SOCIETY

O.C. AUCKLAND, This Day1. Shareholders of the South British Insurance Co., Ltd., yesterday approved of a donation of £10,000 to Heritage. The gift was recommended by the directors in their report attached to the annual accounts.

"Having come so successfully through the dangers and difficulties of the -past six years, it occurred to the board as fitting that the cbmpany should in a tangible fashion, pay tribute to those who have given their lives or suffered disablement in the common cause," said the chairman; Mr. V. J. Lamer. "This explains our suggested donation of £ 10,000 from the company's funds. The choice of a suitable recipient of this grant has received careful consideration, and we can think of nothing more worthy-of support than Heritage, a society whose object, is to assist the dependants of those who have made the supreme sacrifice that we might enjoy peace and freedom. "We have been impressed with the work of the society, which, is carried on quietly and with great discretion," said Mr. Lamer. "The full story of its activities will only be written in the lives of the children it has undertaken to assist and guide."
