DENIAL OF STORY

P.A. • OPOTIKI, This Day. Sergeant J. I. Isbister, in charge of the Opotiki Police Station, stated today that the matter in connection with the supposed armed hold-up in Otara Road had now been satisfactorily cleared up. The police were satisfied that no armed hold-up had occurred in the Opotiki district.

Life membership badges were presented by her Excellency Lady Newall at the Red Cross Society's demonstration in the Town Hall to Mrs. Duncan Stout and Miss Sybil Nathan. The same distinction has been accorded to Sir Heaton Rhodes, of Christchurch, who was unable to attend the function.
