FOOD AND HOUSING
Emphasising the tremendous importance of expanding New Zealand's food production in view Of the vast number of servicemen coming to the Pacific War, Mr. W. Morrison, in his presidential address to the Counties' Association conference today, said as many men as possible must be diverted to food production. "But farm labour will not be procurable unless suitable housing is available," he added. "For a time housing may have to be in the form of comfortable Army huts, but houses of a reasonable size and well equipped must be available in the future if married couples are to remain on the land."
At a meeting of headquarters of the Disabled Servicemen's Re-establish-ment League, Mr. W. G. Harrison was re-elected Dominion president for the ensuing 12 months, and Mr. L. O. H. Tripp was elected Dominion vicepresident.
