A BRIEF RECESS
POTSDAM CONFERENCE
BRITISH DELEGATES GOING TO LONDON
(By Telegraph—Press Association— Copyright.) Rec. 11.20 a.m. LONDON, July 24. Messrs. Churchill, Truman, and Stalin met today, it is officially announced from Potsdam. A correspondent states that it' is understood their meeting was the last of the series before Messrs. Churchill, Eden, and Attlee return to Britain tomorrow for the election results.
Correspondents learn authoritatively that the conference will be in recess for only one. day, resuming on Friday, when the British leaders are expected to return. The conference is not likely to take major decisions during the absence of the British leaders. The intention to continue the conference at least makes it clear that there is much important business for discussion. The Press Association's diplomatic correspondent understands that even if Mr. Churchill's Government is defeated he will return to Potsdam to complete the work with Messrs. Eden and Attlee. . It is reported that the British Chiefs of Staff and many of the experts will stay on in Potsdam and tackle outstanding work and prepare for the next phase of the conference. According to an American correspondent, in Berlin, some of the United States delegates have already left Germany, and other delegates are getting ready to leave for a "new and surprising destination." . The spokesman at the White House in Washington told correspondents that he had no knowledge of the destination of those American^ delegates who were reported to have already left the conference.
