LEAVING ARMY
FIVE-YEAR VETERANS
AUSTRALIAN POLICY Rec. 9 a.m. . CANBERRA, July 24. Soldiers who have served five years and have operational experience are being brought back to the Australian mainland for discharge., "A substantial batch will be arriving m Australia within the next fortnight," said the Army Minister, Mr. F. M. Forde m the House of Representatives. They will be brought out by boat and air. Mr. Forde also said that servicemen, with five years' service and other qualifications who are on the Australian mainland are being discharged in accordance with instructions issued by Army authorities. Everything possible is being done to implement the decision of the Government. Mr. Forde said that in calculating five years of service periods spent with the militia would be counted.
