DISABLED SOLDIER'S EXAMPLE
(To the Editor.)
Sir, —Realising the urgent needs of the people in Europe for clothing and also the value of the maxim that he who gives quickly gives twice, I have [pleasure in forwarding to you onetenth of my war pension, £2 3s 6d, received by me this month -for transmission, to the proper quarters. The people in Europe will be in very desperate straits this winter, and no matter what we think of our former enemies it is at least up to New Zealand to do all it can to alleviate the position. Perhaps the Government, as a patriotic- gesture, could divert some of the unclaimed money out- of patriotic art unions toj this purpose, which is indeed a very urgent charitable purpose.—l am, etc., 100% DISABLED.
[The sum enclosed has been forwarded to the UNRRA National Clothing Drive appeal at Red Cross head-quarters.—-Ed.]
