TOTAL OF 33,402 PARCELS
The energetic women who form the packing branch of the Overseas Seamen's Gift Committee have sent away 2000 parcels during the past two months, bringing their total to 33,402. Apart from the personal parcels for each man serving on an overseas ship, gifts of card games, books, woollen garments, etc., also have been forwarded. Letters of appreciation from the men who have benefited from the efforts of these patriotic workers have come regularly to the committee. On a recent day, when 700 parcels were packed, the Mayoress, Mrs. Appleton, visited the workers and expressed her pleasure at seeing the magnificent results of their efforts. The committee has had generous support from the National Patriotic Fund and from women's societies that have spun and knitted garments for parcels.
Mrs C. K. Wilson left this week for a visit to Nelson after attending the W.D.F.U. ' Conference in Wellington.
