Red Cross Bally.
The public • are 1 invited to a rally of members and supporters of the Red Cross movement to be held in the Town Hall, Wellington, tomorrow, at 8 p.m. Their Excellencies Sir Cyril and Lady Newall will be present, and an interesting programme featuring talented artists has been arranged. A film portraying the work of the Red Cross for prisoners of war will be shown.
Clothing for UNRRA
In order to expedite dispatch members of the Rongotai Townswomen's Guild are asked to leave clothes for UNRRA at the local Red Cross depots instead of bringing them to the next guild meeting. The Kilbirnie Red Cross Rooms, at the corner of. Childers Terrace and Seatoun Road, will be open on Thursday from 2 and 3 p.m. to receive gifts for UNRRA.
Rush for Charity Ball
So great was the rush for gallery seats at the Charity Ball when the box plan opened yesterday morning, that the plan was completely filled before lunch. The ball, which is to be held in the Wellington Town Hall on Tuesday evening next, promises to be an outstanding social event, the spectacular feature being the presentation of 90 debutantes to his Grace Archbishop O'Shea. Ball tickets are limited, and early application is necessary. Patrons are advised by advertisement today what entrance doors to use on the evening of the ball.
Wellington Townswomen's Guild.
The July meeting of the Wellington Townswomen's Guild, presided over by Mrs. F. Williams in the absence of Mrs. P. Walton, was well attended The guest speaker was Mrs. C. H Henderson, who gave an interesting address on the treatment of war neurosis A competition for the most usefui article made from a sugar bag drew many entries, all of a high standard of ingenuity and artistry. The winners were Mrs. Hutch inson first, Mrs Carron second. Two solos sung by Mrs. A. F. Downer were much appreciated. Mrs. Martin was the accompanist. Members were reminded of the appeal for clothes for UNRRA
