Allum) recently wrote to the Lord • Mayor of Melbourne, Alderman Sir Thomas Nettlefold, inviting him to visit Auckland in his official capacity as a guest of the city. Sir Thomas has 1 replied that although he is recovering from' illness, he hopes to make the visit before August 27, when his term •as Lord Mayor ends.
