DEFAULTER SENTENCED

Ralph Crump, shearer, pleaded guilty in the Magistrate's Court today to a charge that, being a member of the Armed Forces, he failed to parade at Trentham and receive a battle-dress Sub-Inspector J. Bickerdike said that the accused had previously lodged an appeal on the grounds of conscientious objection, but the appeal had been withdrawn. He had served a term of imprisonment for a breach of the regulations. Mr. W. F. Stilwell, S.M., sentenced him to defaulters' detention.

James Lee Collins, labourer 21 pleaded guilty in the Magistrate's Court today to a charge of breaking and entering the counting house of Eric Johnston, Willeston Street on July 6 and there committing theft'and was committed to the Supreme Court for sentence by Mr. W. F. Stilwell
