N.Z. DIVISION
Sir—The Government is well aware that those members of the 2nd N.Z.E.F. who signed on before Japan came into the war signed on for the duration of the war with Germany only. That war is over and our boys should be on their war back home. Letters received here state that the soldiers when m Italy were told that when the Italian campaign was ended they would be brought back to New Zealand. But by means of an apparently innocentclause in a Finance Bill the Government may conscript these boys into the war with Japan, thereby altering an honourable agreement In the circumstances, the right thing for the Government to do is to honour the agreement and bring our boys back to New Zealand. Then, if for reasons of diplomacy of for any other reason a task force for the Pacific theatre is found necessary, this could be obtained by calling for volunteers as is being done in Canada.-I am^c,
