GERMAN COMPOSITE PLANE

™ r> a LONDON, September 2. lhe Press Association's aviation correspondent says that the enemy composite plane mentioned recently is believed to consist of a fighter, possibly a Focke-Wulf 190, with an obsolete Junkers 88 filled with explosive slung beneath it. The new weapon, in effect is a bomber stripped of its guns. The bomb portion of the composite plane is estimated to be able to carry 4000 to 80001b of high-explosive in its nose. The Junkers 88 in its original role carried about four tons of bombs, with a cruising range of more than 1000 miles. The Junkers, after its release, may be radio controlled by the fighter pilot, but he must be able to see the target to obtain any kind of accuracy. The composite plane is -very vulnerable to our fighters.
