RUGBY, September 2. Allied troops now hold the western bank of the Chindwin River along half its length, namely, 300 miles from its source, according to a message from Allied headquarters in Ceylon. Liberators which bombed the Bang-kok-Moulmein railway carried thousands of leaflets not intended as usual for the enemy, but printed in English and carrying the latest European war news. ■ ■ -It was hoped that some might find their way to the British prisoners in south Thailand camps. The leaflets announced the liberation of Paris and bade the prisoners take heart.
