A Supreme Headquarters communique says that Allied air activity was sharply curtailed yesterday by thick clouds over north-east France. Light anq" medium bombers, flying by instruments, attacked'the enemy force Which is still occupying the small but stronglyrfprtified- island of Cezembre, off the entrance to St. jyialo harbour. Others bombed a . large enemy oil storage centre in' the Foret d'Arques, near Dieppe. Fighter-bombers shot up several enemy planes on the ground near Copenhagen. Fighter-bombers also operated over the Skagerrak. Other srn.all fqrces harassed "enemy movements in the Rouen-Abbeville-Qournay area as weather permitted. Through storms and cloud that in places came as low as 500 feet, R.A.F. Mosquitoes continued their harrying of the enemy during the night, attacking railway transport up to the borders of Germany. Considerable havoc was wrought at a crossing of the Somme between Amiens and St. Valery.' At the request of the Army, United States Havocs on Thursday bombed and left in flames a German ammunition dump five miles south-east of Dieppe, an important source of ammunition for the artillery covering the enemy retreat north of the Seine. .An Air Ministry communique reports that bombers attacked Frankfurt last night, and.mines were laid in enemy waters. No aircraft are missing - « Mediterranean air 'communique says that heavy bombers attacked two railway bridges in eastern Yugoslavia yesterday, Strategic Air Force fighters attacked enemy planes on two aerodromes in Hungary and Rumania. Unfavourable weather prevented medium bomber operations. Fighter-bombers attacked railways and roads leading from the Po Valley to the Gothic Line Fighters were active against motor transport and railways in the Rhone Valley.
